India has come a long way in its 70-year-long journey of independence. However, it continues to hover in the group of “developing” countries with social and communal issues, poverty, improper and poor infrastructure, and corruption, among many other factors that keep pulling India back. At the same time, India has made a great deal of progress in technology. Currently, India’s development graph is driven by its growth in technology.

India and technology

India has experienced significant success with its technological developments. In fact, India is the first country to successfully reach Mars on its initial attempt. India also has one of the highest-rated space technology faculties in the world. At present, India has 27 operational satellites and is sharing its space technology and knowledge with the rest of the SAARC nations.

India has always been on the quest for internalizing technology and building systems from scratch. This ranges from its advancements in creating nuclear energy, IT systems to pharmaceuticals, and health information technology. India is now one of the most popular sites for FDI in technology.

On the other hand, India certainly has its challenges lined up. The Indian health system needs to be upgraded and vaccination and awareness drives about diseases should be more efficient. Safety of women and gender equality is a whole other issue in India, but must be dealt with to achieve a “developed” nation status. There is abundant water scarcity, poor water harvesting infrastructure, and a serious case of water and air pollution. In terms of governance, corruption and lack of transparency affect the people’s faith in the constitution and India’s governing bodies. All these factors harm India’s chances of progress and growth.

Nonetheless, India continues to revel in the realm of technology. Today, technology is one feature that makes India a force to be reckoned with. India has also aced the knack of internalizing international technology. Many international applications, such as Uber and Amazon, have their local counterparts in Ola and Flipkart respectively that are working concurrently and are certainly thriving.
