The large intestine meridian is one of the 12 main meridians running through the human body. It is an important one because when blocked, it can cause pain and discomfort, such as a toothache, neck swelling, or constipation. Tapping this meridian can help you relax the body.

In traditional Chinese medical science, the large intestine meridian is considered to be running at its peak from 5 to 7 in the morning. The route starts from the fingertip all the way up to the side of the nose. You can help clear the passage by tapping.

How to tap the large intestine meridian to relax the body

The way to tap is to hold one hand in a fist facing downwards. Tap with the fist, on the other hand, starting from the tip of the forefinger and moving upwards. Keep tapping to the shoulder, then from the shoulder to the back of the neck, and from there to the collar bone, up the side of the neck, across the face over to the side of the nose.

However, don’t tap too hard. A normal force will serve the purpose. People with slow blood clotting conditions — such as hemophilia, thrombocytopenia, and patients taking anticoagulation drugs like aspirin — should use a light force to tap to avoid bruising the skin or causing internal bleeding.

To tap is to clear the meridian passage. When cleared, toxins and wastes are more easily excreted out of the body through the excretory system, which helps to relax the body.
