One of the main reasons behind making the world connect virtually was to ensure that cultures can cross borders and mingle without having to leave the comfort of their homes or sacrifice jobs or hobbies. You can always invest time in both your profession and your passion by putting your energy into something like Irish quilt patterns.

Some people are great at being a science graduate with a very technical job, but also pen down amazing verses or create scenes from their imaginations that can stir up any soul. The age-old saying of always following your passion often limits the number of passions a person can have. But having a passion and a profession allows you to incorporate various aspects of your life seamlessly.

One such passion followed by many is globetrotting. Add to the fact that remote working or becoming a digital nomad is a reality; taking up crafting skills from various corners of the world is also a reality. There are people who work for software development companies based in America when they are living in some idyllic snowclad valley in Europe and have a passion for baking bread and making jellies. Letting two completely opposite sides of you merge so beautifully is the ultimate goal of globe crafting.

Irish quilt patterns, a trending craft for quilters

Quilting can be traced back to the first Egyptian dynasty, as archaeologists have uncovered proof of quilted garments with the depiction of the pharaoh. While the term was coined first in 13th-century England even though the name has a Latin origin, the process of quilting that incorporates sewing many layers of fabric and stitches together has been around for many centuries. One of the best uses of this technique is creating quilted blankets, which can be a montage of memories or simply bind the powers of Celtic symbols with everyday garments.

Irish quilt patterns are trending on many sites across the globe mainly due to the fact that the long-chain design is easier to understand and learn and the patterns are not only visually appealing but also easier to pick up via hand using just a needle and threads. Some of the most popular Irish quilt patterns are:

1.  Single chain quilt

The most basic design, the single-chain quilt is ideal for beginners to understand and master. But the simplicity of the design can be the perfect gift for any minimalist. The usage of two fabrics and two blocks make this design simple, yet versatile.

2.  Celtic twist block

This is another classic that works up the illusion that you have used four fabrics and have stitched them together. The fact is, few shades are used of the same color and placed on a background of white. This is another simple technique that is easy to master and create fabulous designs.

3.  Fairy ring

If carved motifs are your dream, then you can turn to this simple design that uses appliqued blocks to create the lovely designs of clover leaves that are seen near churches or monuments. The soothing green on green design is another easy-to-master pattern.

4.  Connemara flower

If you want to learn the partial seam technique, the Connemara flower is the best design to set your hand to. The main concern for this is to know the correct placement of the fabric and then to create the block.

5.  Celtic knot

The most intricate design often has the simplest making technique and the Celtic knot is a fine example. You need to form bias fabric tubes and then apply them to a fabric that you will use as a background.

One of the recurring themes in Irish designs has always been the color green. In fact, Ireland and its folktales are somehow always in greenery and amidst its various symbols. There are various quilting books that not only take you through the mythology and folklore of Ireland, but they also help you get the techniques right so you too can create a dazzling craft. Whether you are looking to take up a global crafting technique as a hobby or want to make some more income via it, you are sure to fall in love with not just the technique of quilting, but also find the designs of the Irish quilt patterns soothing.
