Many women (me included) spend numerous hours and dollars striving for clear, healthy, and vibrant skin.

While some lotions and potions go a long way to help, the types of food you eat play a big part in your skin tone and quality in the short and long term.

Your skin is a reflection of what is going on inside your body.

If your skin is looking dehydrated, there is a good chance the cells inside are also. Think you’re already eating pretty healthy? Well, there’s still a chance your diet can be low in key nutrients that are essential for healthy vibrant skin.

My favorite foods for vibrant skin throughout the summer months

1. Blueberries and pomegranates

2. Dark chocolate 

Dark chocolate (when made from raw cacao) is rich in flavonoids, which help protect your skin from sun damage.

3. Spinach 

Full of vital nutrients and antioxidants, spinach helps fight inflammation and free radical damage.

4. Walnuts 

Walnuts are rich in omega 3 and vitamin E to make for smoother vibrant skin, healthier hair, and stronger bones.

Tomatoes are a great source of lycopene, which can help protect the skin from sun damage.

7. Kiwi fruit

The vitamin C from Kiwi fruit stimulates collagen production and repairs damage to skin-cell DNA.

8. Edamame 

The isoflavones in these Japanese soybeans ease inflammation and slow down collagen breakdown.

9. Sweet potatoes, carrots, and butternut squash
