Kara Pure is a futuristic water purifier that does not rely on running water to make purified water. The company is based in New York. Most water filter products on the market use one or a combination of three primary technologies: carbon filtration, reverse osmosis, and ion exchange. However, it is not commonplace to find a filtration system that turns air into drinking water. It may sound like science fiction, but this new and innovative air-to-water filtration system is fully functional.

What is Kara Pure?

Kara Pure was conceived and invented by Cody Soodeen. The device extracts water from the moisture present in the air. It turns the moisture into alkaline drinking water with minerals. This device can generate up to 10 liters of water a day. The PH level of water made by it is 9.2. It serves another purpose. The device also humidifies and purifies the air at the same time. So you get fresh air to inhale and clean and pure water to drink day after day!

How does the Kara Pure filtration system function?

Kara Pure is not like typical water-capture devices that rely on refrigerants. Instead, it uses a desiccant to soak in water from the atmosphere much like volcanic rocks. The air goes through a desiccant, which leads to water extraction. The generated water is then purified using a purification system that has inbuilt UV light and a mineral infuser.

An ionizer alkalizes the water while a carbon filter filters out other impurities. So you get clean and alkaline water. There are no chemicals or refrigerants used in the unit. The device does not create any noise at all. There are also not many maintenance and clean-up issues.

The device has a minimalist design and features a clean exterior. Operating the device is also simple. There is just one button on it. Once you press it, clean drink-worthy water is poured into the cavity where you can keep a glass or bottle.

It runs on electricity. However, there is no installation as is the case with typical water purifiers. So you need not worry at all about the water supply source or water pressure, etc. There is a running cost, however. The filter needs to be replaced every year and it costs around $100.

What about the availability?

If you want to get your hands on the innovative water filtration device, you have to wait for a little while. The project is in the crowdfunding stage as of now. The company has said mass production will commence in February 2022. The shipment of devices will start in June 2022. The Instagram page of the company has gone live.

A device that suits varying types of users

The device can be useful in many regions, especially in those places where groundwater is contaminated and people deal with water scarcity issues. As the water is extracted from the air, there is no scope for metal, contaminants, or chemicals getting mixed into the water. It can be used anywhere as long as there is humidity in the air and an electricity supply. It can also be useful for people who live in places with high levels of air pollution.
