Yilan Longtan Lake is a famous tourist attraction located on the calm and quiet outskirts of Jiaoxi Town in northern Taiwan’s Yilan County. It was one of “Lanyang Twelve Scenic Wonders” due to its fascinating scenery. Besides its natural beauty, one of the most commendable features of the lake is the Eco Park on the lakefront, in which there are fish ladders that aid Distoechodon tumirostris (鯝魚) in the lake to return upstream to spawn. Distoechodon tumirostris is a species of cyprinid or freshwater fish commonly called the carp or minnow. Its habitat is inland wetlands and it is used for food.
