In modern society the incidence of cancer is high, raising the question as to what exactly causes it to be so prevalent these days. Whatever the reason, it has been noted that cancer patients who receive early medical treatment and adjust their lifestyles and diets have successfully eradicated the rogue cells and restored their health. The abundant research into the nutritional benefits of foods has enabled people to wisely select those that boost immunity which in turn helps prevent and fight cancer.

6 foods that guard against cancer

1. Mushrooms

Shiitake and reishi mushrooms are rich in polysaccharides, special substances which can boost immunity and reduce the growth and proliferation of cancer cells. Including them in the diet can improve liver function, decrease the severity of allergic reactions, and delay aging. They benefit the physical functions of both cancer patients as well as healthy individuals.

2. Lotus seeds

Lotus seeds can serve as food or medicine. They are beneficial for the health of the heart and the prevention of myopia. Lotus seeds can be utilized in desserts or served fresh in main dishes or even eaten dried. A green cord is usually found inside the lotus seed. It tastes bitter, thus, it can be used as a medicine or made into a tea. Lotus seeds can eliminate cancer cells and are known to be effective in the prevention of nasopharyngeal cancer.

3. Egg yolks

Eggs are a nutrient-rich food. Their proteins are easily digested and they contain important trace elements such as potassium, sodium, magnesium, and phosphorus. Methionine, an amino acid vital to the human body, is found abundantly in eggs but is absent in grains and beans. When eggs are combined with grains and beans, they provide the essential building blocks our bodies can easily utilize.

Most of the fat contained in egg yolks is in the form of unsaturated fatty acids. These fats are easily absorbed by our bodies, thus eggs are especially beneficial for convalescing or frail people who need to improve their health.

4. Spinach

Spinach contains multiple substances and is rich in β-carotene, a substance that can protect cells from cancer, inhibit the growth and proliferation of cancer cells, and also boost immunity.

The trace elements in spinach can vitalize cells and improve metabolism. Spinach can supply nutrients for those who need to improve their general health and boost their capability to fight against cancer.

5. Soybeans

Soybeans are considered to be the most nutritious beans, providing an excellent source of proteins, calcium, lecithin, Vitamin B12, dietary fiber, and 15 other soy isoflavones. The health benefits of soybeans have been confirmed by countries all over the world.

6. Turnip (Daikon)

Turnips are rich in Vitamin C, dietary fiber, and the trace element zinc. They facilitate digestion, eliminate coughs, and boost immunity. They can also improve the motility of the intestinal tract and reduce the risk of colorectal cancer. They taste spicy because they contain mustard oil. The spiciness of a turnip is determined by the amount of mustard oil present — the higher the rate of mustard oil, the more effective it is in fighting cancer.
