Perspectives From Traditional Chinese Medicine

Traditional Chinese medicine treats people on many different levels. For example, I knew a Buddhist woman who lived a very frugal life even though her family was wealthy. Although she was almost 50 years old and had given birth to three children, she was slim and healthy. Her only regret was that her face was covered with dark spots.

“Why don’t you go to a beauty salon to get rid of your dark spots?” I suggested. She replied: “As a Buddhist, I shouldn’t be too attached to my appearance.” I replied: “But isn’t your husband chairman of the board of a large company? You have to attend banquets and parties with him. Have you ever considered how you appear to the other guests?”

She accepted my advice and had a correction treatment. As a result, all her dark facial specks were whitened, and she looked beautiful. I asked her: “You hated your dark spots, didn’t you?” She replied: “Yes!”

I continued:

“The fact that you have dark spots tells me that you must have suffered a serious health problem in the past. In order to protect your vital organs, such as your heart, brain, kidney, and liver, your pigment cells secreted melanin and that was your bodies way of fighting the disease.

Western medicine targets a disease like an enemy – attacking, poisoning, cutting, all in an attempt to kill it. As a result, the patient’s organ systems may sustain damage.

Traditional Chinese medicine treats conditions holistically

Traditional Chinese medicine is an additional procedure that treats a condition holistically. A doctor of traditional Chinese medicine dispenses a prescription based on the patient’s symptoms.

If the patient has poor urine, the specialist in traditional Chinese medicine would also prescribe natural diuretics. If the patient has a destructive appetite and does not want to eat, they will need a specific Chinese medicine to promote digestion. If the patient cannot sleep well, they will require a herb that has a soothing effect which can help with insomnia.

When the patient is treated for unobstructed urine and regains their appetite and normal sleep patterns, their body will recover quickly.

Patients should seek Western treatment if they so desire, but they should also improve their state of mind and treat their diseases holistically with the help of traditional Chinese medicine.
