The death of Former Chinese Communist Party (CCP) Chairman Jiang Zemin was officially announced on November 30. Reportedly, he was 96 at the time of death. As expected, the CCP authorities dutifully praised him, but how do the Chinese people view him?

Chinese-Canadian journalist and writer Sheng Xue tweeted: “Jiang Zemin is the tyrant of the CCP’s cruel and oppressive rule. He would never change his nature even as he drew his last breath.

“His ‘liberalism’ and ‘romantic sentiments’ are all nonsense and just pretending to be neutral. In liberty and slavery, democracy and autocracy, there is no neutrality between respect and killing”.

As the saying goes: “After one dies, one leaves behind their name and reputation.” During Jiang Zemin’s lifetime, there were many scandals, and he left behind a sorry trail of destruction and evil deeds.

Chairman Jiang Zemin sold out China and the Chinese people

In December 1999, Jiang Zemin and the then-Russian leader signed three Sino-Russian border agreements in Beijing, recognizing the unequal treaty between China and Russia that even his wicket CCP predecessors would not recognize.

In exchange for support from Russia, China was forced to cede more than 1 million square kilometers (390,000 square miles) of Chinese territory to Russia, an area equivalent to over 30 times the size of Taiwan.

The cover-up of his perfidious legacy and traitorous background

The Communist Party pays particular attention to “background and birth.” So to climb the Chinese Communist Party ranks and gain a political foothold, Jiang Zemin fraudulently altered and doctored his background pedigree and history.

He stole the identity and gave the name of his sixth uncle Jiang Shangqing who was 15 years older than him, as his “father.” Jiang Shangqing was killed while fighting the Japanese army during World War II and was considered a “martyr” by the Communist Party. This type of identity theft is considered stolen valor in a decent society.

Jiang Zemin’s father was once a minister in the puppet government under Japanese occupation in the 1940s, a position regarded as traitorous. In that way, Jiang Zemin covered up the fact that he was the son of a traitor and claimed that his father was a martyr. However, Jiang himself was a treacherous traitor.

Jiang Zemin was the on-site commander and benefited the most from the June 4th massacre, which is estimated to have killed thousands of unarmed protesters.

June 4 massacre on-site commander

The June 4 protests in 1989 were a student-led patriotic movement backed up by the people of the whole country against CCP corruption and were pro-democracy. Jiang Zemin rose to power in 1989, shortly after the then-paramount leader, Deng Xiaoping, sent tanks and troops to crush the pro-democracy student protesters gathering at Tiananmen Square in Beijing.

Deng praised Jiang for his vigorous suppression of the movement in Shanghai. However, according to Li Peng’s disclosure in his June 4th Diary, Deng ordered Zhao Ziyang, sympathetic to the student demonstrators, to step down and Jiang to take over while ordering the June 4th massacre.

Deng also approved the crackdown plan on the evening of June 3, while Jiang “was on the fourth floor of the security building, and he could directly watch the movement at Tiananmen Square from the window.”

Jiang was the on-site commander and benefited the most from the June 4th massacre, which is estimated to have killed thousands of unarmed protesters. Stepping on the blood of June 4, he proved his evil worth to his superiors, and he climbed to the pinnacle of power in the CCP.

Undignified court jester and buffoon: An embarrassment to Chinese dignity

Jiang Zemin lacked all self-awareness, was self-assertive, and had the Party, the communist state, and the army under his totalitarian control. To the embarrassment and disrespect of his hosts, he got up and danced and occasionally sang, disregarding international etiquette and national dignity.  For instance, when meeting the King of Spain, he suddenly took out a comb to comb his hair.

When someone wanted to hang a medal award on him, he snatched it and put it on himself; during a state banquet, he suddenly pulled the first lady to dance; he suddenly stood up during a banquet and sang the song My Sun…These have become international jokes and embarrassing to the Chinese people.

Promiscuous lifestyle

The affair between Jiang Zemin and singer Song Zuying was well-known in China. Song even divorced her husband so she and Jiang could meet more conveniently. Apart from Song, Jiang also had several other mistresses. They benefitted from the affair and quickly rose or got promoted with Jiang’s backing.

Took bribes from army officials in exchange for military titles

Corruption in the CCP military intensified in the 1980s and continued into the 1990s. Jiang, who had never held a gun and had no roots in the army, indulged in and promoted corruption in the military to “buy” out the army’s morale. Jiang promoted generals in batches to support his cronies and took the opportunity to “sell” titles to them.

Jiang Zemin took over control of the army after more than 20 years. Under Jiang’s connivance and protection, the CCP’s military became corrupt and was referred to as “the Great Wall of self-destruction.” Jiang Zemin began by selling titles for 30 million yuan.

When Jiang Zemin was in charge of the army, he promoted more than 500 generals. Under Jiang Zemin, the Peoples Liberation Army (PLA) became the private bodyguard for the Chinese Communist Party elites.

A flawed economic model and absurd claims

While Jiang Zemin was Chairman of the Communist Party of China, he shamelessly caused one scandal and atrocity after another, began the authoritarian suppression of 100 million peaceful Falun Gong practitioners, squandered the wealth of the Chinese people, and destroyed the fabric of the Chinese family and culture.

It is often and erroneously claimed that Mao Zedong, Deng Xiaoping, and Jiang Zemin, with the Chinese Communist Party, raised millions of people out of poverty. This is absurd and even malicious. They killed millions of Chinese people, stole their wealth, and enslaved the rest; the remaining ones were better off temporarily due to all the killing and theft.

The Chinese economy is built on the communist model: endless killing fields, the enslavement of the entire population, mass surveillance, mass displacement, forced labor camps, tyranny, rivers of blood, and tears. The wealth and totalitarian power remain in the hands of CCP elites.

As for the question of what the Chinese people think about Jiang Zemin, they have never been consulted about it.
