The new year brings plenty of opportunities to take care of yourself and your health. To help you better visualize your goal of being healthy, here are nine habits to say no to for better health in 2023.

1. Eating non-nutritious foods

One of the best ways to keep in good shape is to have a nutritious diet. Generally, your diet should contain lots of fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, whole grains, and healthy fats. Stay away from sugary and processed meals. Instead, start cooking your food using regional, premium ingredients and pay attention to how your body responds to various foods and dietary intake.

2. Surrounding yourself with toxic people

Engaging in harmful behavior is terrible for your health. Learn to be more sympathetic, loving, and kind. Invest most of your time with those who inspire you, and always be sincere with yourself emotionally.

3. Poor sleeping habits

According to the U.S. Center for Disease Control (CDC), people aged 18 to 60 need seven or more hours of sleep every night for better health. Lack of sleep can lead to poor performance at work or school and a heightened risk of diabetes, hypertension, obesity, heart attack, stroke, and depression.

4. Too many unhealthy substances

Avoid consuming too much processed food, carbonated beverages, cigarettes, alcohol, and other things. Pay attention to what you put in your body, since you are what you eat! Find healthy recreational activities that can replace drinking or smoking.

5. Not exercising

Regular exercise can help you feel better, be less stressed, and have a lower risk of developing certain conditions. Choose enjoyable activities so that you can look forward to them. A short walk around the block or a yoga session may help you feel better.

6. Too much social media

Most of us are addicted to social media. According to the U.S. Center for Disease Control (CDC), people aged 18 to 60 need seven or more hours of sleep every night for better health.

7. Having a cluttered environment

Keep your work area spotless physically and mentally. Make it a practice to tidy up before you start your day. Learn to say goodbye to things that don’t provide value to your life on an emotional level.
