The COVID pandemic has brought the world’s leadership into the spotlight. Since the outbreak, countries have responded in varying ways, so much so that the policies and measures taken by the governing bodies have become a litmus test highlighting their stance and attitude toward their people.

So what can be said about the current Chinese government?

10 questions China’s policymakers need to answer

Question 1

Why has the Chinese government emphasized the need for a zero-COVID policy? Was this based on tried and true medical science studies or out of political necessity?

Question 2

The zero-COVID policy has been enforced for the past three years. Yet, the facts worldwide show that the virus has become increasingly less virulent. So why is there such an insistence on a policy that is not even in line, historically, with initial viruses that have appeared throughout human existence?

Question 3

Under the strict “Political Mandate of Accountability,” why are public officials and hired personnel at all levels not being prosecuted for inflicting harm, arresting, and imprisoning innocent people?

Question 4

There has been a sharp increase in the death rate of non-coronavirus patients. Can you deny this humanitarian disaster is not a result of the three-year zero-Covid policy?

Question 5

On what basis was the ruling made to abandon the zero-COVID policy completely, instantly, gambling with people’s lives as they were left unaided, coping with the consequences of this decision?

Question 6

The prevention and control policy of the COVID epidemic should have been acted upon by the laws of medical science and strictly adhere to their professional recommendations on how to handle the virus’s best impact on society.

A case in point: Why didn’t you unlock the nation during summer when the COVID virus is less active and virulent? Instead, you chose the winter months when the virus, as proven by science, is the most conducive to growing and reproducing.

Question 7

Why did the central policymakers not foresee how this sudden policy change would affect and enable the local governments at all levels to manage the sudden changes best and avoid having their citizens panic and blindly hoard all the medical supplies?

The prevention and control policy of the epidemic should have been acted upon by the laws of medical science and strictly adhere to their professional recommendations on how to handle the virus's best impact on society.

Question 8

The three years of strict COVID control have put the livelihood of the general public in great difficulty. Moreover, this sudden policy change left people unprepared psychologically and physically on how they would manage their daily needs; in contrast, the virus was gone to build up herd immunity.

So we beg to question: Why haven’t you implemented the communist system of “rationing” on a per capita basis, which would allow each person to buy basic medical supplies such as antigen self-test kits, essential medicines, N-95 masks, and a home isolation guide? Instead, you have irresponsibly left the lives of a nation’s people to fate and an unknown future!

Question 9

Why have the quarantine hospitals been removed overnight, and their infected patients are driven back into their local communities? Is this a deliberate attempt to speed up and deepen the spread of the COVID virus throughout the nation?

Question 10

Are you taking responsibility for the significant number of infected people lining up in freezing temperatures, waiting for over 10 hours to receive medical treatment, and for those who wait up to 40 days to get into crematoriums?

People question who should be held accountable for all this suffering and chaos. Despite this, the official Party-run media still cites the adage: “The country is a great deal better!” This government continues to advocate: People first — Life first.

Suddenly changing the policy overnight from total lockdown to no lockdown during this pandemic is genuinely mindboggling.
