This is a two-part story; please go here for Part 1

Moving to Canada to study abroad has been an eye-opening experience for Wei Yihan. It has allowed her to understand the true nature of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). Today, she participates in social activism to take a stand against the CCP, saying: “It cannot take away our right to express our anger, including my concern for my family.”

She is clear that such overseas protests may have minimal impact on the dictatorial regime, but living in Canada now allows her the freedom to express her anger and give a voice to fellow citizens whose voices have been banned under the Chinese Communist Party’s totalitarian rule. “Only when there are more people who are not afraid of the ruling power of the CCP does it become weaker, and it then becomes the party that is afraid.” Wei Yihan said.

On November 27, 2022, Wei Yihan stood in solidarity with protesters during the China White Paper Campaign in front of the Chinese consulate in Toronto. The red-walled building behind her was representative of China’s authoritarian dictatorship, composed of millions of troops, armed police, cyber police, overseas secret service networks, and face recognition technology.

Now open and free of fear, Wei Yihan is in a completely different state of mind than she was a year ago. She said: “Standing with other protestors has given me more confidence and a sense of security.”

According to Wei Yihan, the Chinese Communist Party supports Russia in its war with Ukraine, while Iran also has the support of the Chinese Communist Party government behind it.

Taking a stand against the Communist Party is the responsibility of the whole world

Wei Yihan said that the Chinese Communist Party’s propaganda subliminally implanted a concept in the world that China is prosperous and that everything in China can be solved with money. For example, the Communist Party can put up so much money for the Olympics, but those children living in remote mountain villages can’t eat or go to school. At the same time, those seriously ill have no money for medical treatment.

So many people in China are struggling in poverty, yet the Chinese Communist Party puts on a shiny mask to create an appearance of prosperity. In reality, the country is not like the image it tries to portray.

“The Chinese Communist Party has terribly affected the worldwide order. It’s destroying China and the world,” Wei Yihan said. When the Wuhan epidemic broke out in early 2020, she says Chinese people were frantically grabbing overseas medicine and masks to send back to China. When the most recent wave of the epidemic broke out, desperate Chinese people ran to Hong Kong to grab fever-reducing medicine.

According to Wei Yihan, the Chinese Communist Party supports Russia in its war with Ukraine, while Iran also has the support of the Chinese Communist Party government behind it. The CCP has police stations abroad, and its long arm extends worldwide, with its influence everywhere. Its motive is profound: It not only wants to control China, but it also wants to control the world.

The goal of the Chinese Communist Party is to insert a foot in all places to seize the right to speak and dictate terms internationally. It uses underhanded means to influence other societies negatively, infiltrating them with its propaganda and money to destroy their cultural traditions and norms, to ultimately drag them down. Then, the CCP calls out others for doing precisely what it does to deflect and hide its crimes.

It seeks out and studies the weaknesses in others, be it an individual, group, agency, business, system, or country, and then preys upon those weaknesses to exert its influence and gain control. But unfortunately, faced with communist tactics and twisted and evil thinking, the rest of the world has been essentially blind to its methods and means.

“The Chinese Communist Party has already invaded the whole world,” Wei Yihan said. It uses cheap labor, cheap business costs, and high commercial profits to lure the world in. It makes full use of human weaknesses, exploiting the greed in human nature, using money and profits to buy business people, dignitaries, and big consortia in the international community.

This acts as a muzzle to silence any conversation about the Chinese Communist Party’s human rights violations, sway the world to consent to its behavior, follow its set path, and even help cover up the CCP’s evils.

Perhaps those in a free world may be fooled by Xi Jinping’s talk of “a community of human destiny.” According to Wei Yihan, it has nothing to do with creating a world supportive of shared humanity and everything to do with bringing communism to everyone’s head. For example, the “One Belt, One Road Initiative” is not a real favor to others, but a soft, more advanced, and more subtle form of communist colonization.

While free countries aren’t perfect and certainly have problems, these pale compared to the horrors of living under communism. Though many today have been fooled or lulled into a sense of complacency or may even now have some romanticized ideas about communism, we would do well to remember the advice of Wei Yihan and others who have lived under communism.

No one who has escaped communism has wanted to return, but instead tries to warn others of its evils. And it’s not the case that people try to move to communist-controlled countries, but rather that people frequently try to escape its clutches and find refuge in America and other countries so that they may live in freedom.

Wei Yihian reminds us all that anti-communism should oppose not only totalitarianism and the idea of communist tyranny, but also its ideology and suppression of people’s freedom and human rights. We must each choose our position — side with the communist ideology being pushed across the world or take a stand against communism and the many evils it imposes upon us all.
