This is a two-part story; please go here for Part 1

Billionaire Li Ka-shing became the wealthiest man in Hong Kong with guidance from feng shui master Chen Lang. In the early 1990s, the Hong Kong government granted Li Ka-shing a piece of land in an excellent location in central Hong Kong, situated between the Bank of China Tower and the HSBC Building. This is where he built the Cheung Kong Center, the building that serves as the headquarters for his company.

However, many people felt the feng shui aspects of this location were not auspicious. The Bank of China Tower has sharp, knife-like edges that point toward the HSBC building, while the HSBC building has steel cannons on the roof that point back at China Tower. Placing a building between the two would be like stepping into the middle of a knife and a gunfight. But with guidance from Chen Lang, these bad aspects were managed successfully.

When looking at the Cheung Kong Center building for the first time, many people feel that it is boring and has a bland exterior. But upon further inspection, you find that a lot of thought has been put into its design. The box shape was chosen intentionally to help it withstand the “anger” of the Bank of China Tower, but the edges of the building have been rounded off so as not to be too sharp that they would clash with the “knife” of the bank.

Li Ka-shing followed the advice of his feng shui master in building the Cheung Kong Center.

In addition, bulletproof glass was used throughout the building to “seal” it and help it “resist” external damage. It really looks like a fortress of iron and steel and is thus able to withstand the cannons on top of the HSBC building.

The height of the Cheung Kong Center, which is 283 meters, was carefully chosen. Li Ka-shing himself mentioned that he followed the advice of his feng shui master and made it higher than the HSBC Main Building (179 meters) but lower than the Bank of China Tower (367 meters).

Drawing a diagonal line between the other two buildings, the Cheung Kong Center would be below it. This way, the points of collision of weapons were avoided. It turns out that the Cheung Kong Center was immune from the influence of the two other buildings, and Li Ka-shing’s business flourished. He faced all the weapons being thrown at him and went about his own business unaffected with the help of his feng shui master.

After hearing about this, you may be tempted to seek out a feng shui master, however, it is not something to be taken lightly. It’s not easy to find a true feng shui master, and you might end up encountering dishonest practitioners who would only make matters worse for you.

So what can you do to achieve great success in life? Perhaps you can take some advice from feng shui master Chen Lang.

The secret to wealth

In 2002, Chen Lang became seriously ill and was admitted to a hospital where he received the best care and treatment available. Li Ka-shing heard of Chen Lang’s condition and paid for all his medical expenses. Despite three surgeries and spending millions of dollars on medical bills, Chen Lang still passed away. Chen Lang revealed before his death that he underwent this pain and suffering as a form of divine punishment for revealing too many secrets.

Before his death, many rich and famous people went to visit Chen Lang privately. These were all people he had helped in the past and he shared with them a few last words of advice.

Chen Lang said: “In doing business, take the right path according to the rules and ethics. Be patient, for these things will plant blessings that bring fortune and merits. A good fate will come naturally and success is only a matter of time. This is also to set good examples for other people to learn and follow.

“Blessings cannot be calculated by the billions. Do not take a crooked way or else the blessings will be gone very fast. Our lives actually have trillions of blessings. However, if you take a crooked way, you can lose tens of billions of blessings… you still think that you are successful, not knowing that there will be karmic retribution. It is not worth it.

“Now the world is bad. In order to seek position, status, and benefit, everyone is using unscrupulous tactics. The problem lies in the absence of holy religion, sages, and education. There is no shame, morality, or ethics among people. If all of you want to have wealth and blessings for many generations down the line, it is important to advocate holy religion. Everyone must have ethical behavior. Then there will be fewer man-made disasters, and natural disasters will also be lessened.”

Ancient Chinese wisdom says that one’s life and fortune come from three elements: fate, luck, and feng shui. Thus, if you want lasting success and prosperity, simply arranging a feng shui formation isn’t enough — having honorable conduct and doing good deeds is the only way to truly get “good luck.” In real life, we often see celebrities or officials who become famous and wealthy quickly, only to fall from grace soon after. Doing good deeds and refining one’s character is the only way to secure lasting success.
